Horror Vacui, Oil on Canvas, 400x300mm, 2006
This image is based on Aristotle's idea that nature abhors
a vacuum.
An experiment in 1647 by Blaise Pascal which led to the thermometer
was called vide dans le vide (emptiness in emptiness), based on Aristotle's

The Magdeburg Hemispheres created by Otto von Guericke in 1650 proved that
even an elephant
can not pull apart two hemispheres held together only by air pressure, yet
this air pressure exists all around us.
In art it means filling an entire space with detail.
